Dr. Bimalendu Mohanty was associated as Member Academic Council of the University and also as Member of Senate and Syndicate of the Utkal University for many years. He also served in the inter-regnum as Deputy programme Adviser N.S.S. Ministry of Education and Culture Govt. of India and Registrar Xaviers Institute of Management Bhubaneswar. He then served under Government of Orissa as Director Sports and youth SErvices and Director Culture - both in the rank of Additional Secretary and then Director State Resource Centre in Adult Education Bhubaneswar and Officer on Special Duty Culture Department Govt. of Orissa to set up a Culture University before he was elevated to the office of the first Vice-Chancellor Utkal University of Culture at Bhubaneswar.
