In an effort to provide young children with bilingual reading materials on our folk tales and culture we have come up with this revised and edited edition of "Semo Metok Lhazey". First edition was brought out by the Author himself. We have helped in distribution. People have shown good response to the book. Students have used the book as a study and materials for Tibetan and English language. The story of Princess Metok Lhazey though a children book it contains a message typical of Buddhist teaching of impermanence of all things and the power of love and faith. I hope our children and the children around the world will enjoy the book and take interest in our folk lores.
Princess Metok Lhaze is the Tibetan Story. Princess Metok Lhaze was a legendary Tibetan figure often celebrated in folklore and regional tales for her beauty wisdom and compassionate spirit. Said to have lived during a time of cultural flourishing in the Himalayas she was deeply connected to nature and known for promoting peace among mountain communities. Her name meaning "Flower of the Snowland " symbolizes purity and strength. According to tradition Princess Metok Lhaze championed education and spiritual growth influencing both Buddhist practices and local governance. Though the historical evidence is scarce her story continues to inspire art song and storytelling throughout Tibetan regions.
About the Author
Kalsang Khedup is a Tibetan author and educator recognized for his children’s literature and Tibetan-language learning materials. In the early 2010s he authored a series of illustrated short books primarily aimed at young readers including Princess Metok Lhaze Nyichoe Zangpo: Aku‑Tonpa in Nedhong Bumo Yungtso and Aku‑Tonpa in a Nunnery—all published by Paljor Publications and Free Tibet. These stories retell traditional Tibetan folk tales and legends often imparting moral lessons rooted in Buddhist values and celebrated folklore.
